This standard establishes the safety and radiological protection requirements for mining-industrial installations that handle, process, and store ores, raw materials, overburden, residues, slag and wastes containing radionuclides from the natural series of uranium and thorium, simultaneously or separately, and which may, at any time during its operation or post-operational phase, cause undue exposure of members of the public and workers to ionizing radiation; Applies to activities in mining-industrial installations in operation, suspended or that have ceased their activities before the date of issue of this Standard, intended for mining, physical, chemical and metallurgical processing and industrialization of raw materials and residues that contain associated radionuclides of the natural series of uranium and thorium, covering the installation, operation and decommissioning stages of the installation
