Phase analysis of carbon materials doped with molybdenum and silicon

Creators

Description

X-ray phase analysis indicates that carbon materials doped with molybdenum and silicon are multicomponent systems containing silicon and molybdenum oxides, silicon carbide, the molybdenum silicides Mo5Si3 and MoSi2, and free silicon. Molybdenum was determined gravimetrically by precipitation as a quaternary ammonium base. Silicon is determined colorimetrically from the blue silico-molybdate complex, with tin dichloride as reducing agent. The phase analysis method described can be applied to various carbon materials doped with molybdenum and silicon and provides reasonably accurate and reproducible results
