The comparative characteristic of sensitivity of daphnia (Daphnia magna Str.) and hydra (Hydra attenuata Pall.) to the action of Pb and Cd ions
- 1. Yinstitut gyidrobyiologyiyi, Kyiv (Ukraine)
Description
The influence of lead and cadmium ions on Daphnia magna and Hydra attenuata in acute experiments is investigated. Toxicants' influence caused a mortality of Daphnia magna and morphological changes in Hydra attenuata. The toxic influence of cadmium was revealed greater than that of lead. A level of the toxic effect is directly proportional to the concentration and time of toxicants' actions. In comparison with Hydra attenuata, the toxic effect on Daphnia magna is revealed much earlier, which testifies to their greater sensitivity
