The modernization of the slow extraction system from 70 GeV accelerator (U-70)

Description

Problems of the increasing efficiency of slow accelerated protons escape from U-70 for the ensure the physical plant with high intensity by the escaped beam were studied. Angle scatter of the beam near its barrier must be lowered for decreasing losses and increasing efficiency. In consequence of deficient force of betatron oscillation frequency correction at the maximum acceleration energy 70 GeV the beam was excepted at the energy 64 GeV. Losses of the first two escaped units lowered by a factor equal to 3, and the efficiency of the slow escape system from 85 % was increased to 95 %

Abstract (Russian)

Изучались вопросы повышения эффективности медленного вывода ускоренных протонов из У-70 для обеспечения выведенным пучком физической установки, требующей высокой интенсивности. Для уменьшения потерь и повышения эффективности необходимо уменьшить угловой разброс пучка вблизи его перегородки. Вследствие недостаточной силы системы коррекции частот бетатронных колебаний при максимальной энергии ускорителя 70 ГэВ пучок был выведен при энергии 64 ГэВ. Потери на первых двух выводных устройствах уменьшились в 3 раза, и эффективность системы медленного вывода с 85 % была увеличена до 95 %
