Radiotherapy for Kasabach-Merritt syndrome

Description

We describe how radiotherapy was used in treating a rare newborn case of Kasabach-Merritt syndrome. A total dose of 16.4 Gy was enough to control life threatening thrombocytopenia. At the time radiotherapy ended, tumor shrinkage was noted and a partial response had occurred. Radiotherapy for neonates and hemangiomas are discussed. (author)
