Works on laser-matter interaction program at the Limeil-Valenton center

Description

The experimental works on laser interaction and laser implosion at Limeil have been made with both of the power lasers P 102 (giving a target 20 J at lambda = 0,35μm) and octal (360 J in 280 ps and 900 J in 900 ps at lambda = 1,06 μm). Experiments on plane targets allowed to study the spatial modulation effect of light flux density; optical thickness of an aluminium plasma has been measured with the help of a particular geometry target. In microballoon implosion experiments, a noticeable increasing of neutron emission have been verified when the target was recovered with high density and Z coating on the theoretical side, a particular attention have been given to interaction (resonant absorption saturation mechanisms, linear theory of Raman and two-plasmon effect, stimulated Brillouin scattering saturation), to transport (plasma expansion at two electron temperature, self-consistent description of thermal and suprathermal electrons) and to the physics out of HETL

Abstract (French)

Les travaux experimentaux sur l'interaction et l'implosion par laser au Centre d'Etudes de Limeil ont ete effectues avec les deux lasers de puissance P 102 delivrant sur cible 20 J a lambda = 0,35 μm, et Octal produisant 360 J en 2809 ps et 900 J en 900 ps a lambda = 1,06 μm. Des experiences sur cibles planes ont permis d'etudier l'effet de modulations spatiales d'eclairement sur la mise en vitesse; par ailleurs l'epaisseur optique d'un plasma d'aluminium a ete mesuree a l'aide d'une cible de geometrie particuliere. Dans des experiences d'implosion de microballons, on a constate un accroissement notable de l'emission neutronique lorsque la cible etait recouverte d'un enrobage a densite et Z eleves. Sur le plan theorique, une attention particuliere a ete accordee a l'interaction (mecanisme de saturation de l'absorption resonante, theorie lineaire des effets Raman et deux plasmons, saturation de la diffusion Brillouin stimulee), au transport (detente d'un plasma a deux temperatures electroniques, description self consistante des electrons thermiques et suprathermiques) et a la physique hors HETL
