Probing dense nuclear matter via nuclear collisions

Description
We study the sensitivity of nuclear hydrodynamics to the equation of state of nuclear matter at high densities and temperatures. The pressure, P, and entropy, S, generated in a nuclear collision between 50 and 2000 MeV/nucleon are computed in a variety of models for the equation of state. The high precision required in jet and composition analysis to deduce P and S from data is discussed. (orig.)
