Description
Experimental results for scattering of 185 MeV protons from the 3- states at 3.74, 6.29 and 6.58 MeV and the 5- state at 4.49 MeV in 40Ca have been analyzed in the distorted wave impulse approximation using shell-model wave functions. The single-particle features of the excitations are discussed in a comparison with relevant results from stripping experiments. Experimental data for scattering from other 40Ca levels below 7 MeV excitation energy are also presented. (Auth.)
