Automatic radiometric methods of inspection
Description
Two novel instrumental nuclear methods developed at Materials Research Laboratories for inspecting assemblies and filling levels in certain military stores produced in an Australian munition factory are presented. Scientific principles forming the basis of the instrumental methods are fully discussed and descriptions given of the test equipments installed in the factory. It is shown that the methods have advantages over conventional x-radiography and fluoroscopy, permitting reliable test results to be obtained automatically in the factory production line in a simple GO, NO-GO form capable of interpretation by non-specialist personnel.
