Application of TIO2 as A sorbent for radioactive waste

  • 1. Radioactive Waste Management Technology Center, National Atomic Energy Agency, Serpong, Indonesia(Indonesia)

Description

The sorption properties of the neodymium has been studied by using TiO2 sorbent. The experiment was carried out by batch methods to investigate the kinetic sorption, effect of pH and effect of NaNO3 concentration in the solution. Neodymium uses for a model of trivalent actinide treated by TiO2 which was known as materials having high thermal and radiation stabilities as well as potentially used for immobilization of waste with cement or vitrification. the results show that the optimum of kinetic sorption was obtained after one day experiment to reach the equilibrium in sorption on pH 4, and the increasing of NaNO3 concentrations will increase the sorption of neodymium in solution (author)
