Mass excess of 51Ca

Description
The mass excess of 51Ca has been determined from the Q-value measurement of the 48Ca(18O, 15O)51Ca reaction to be -0.36.12 +- 0.12 MeV. The existence of three excited states below 1 MeV excitation energy probably precludes 52Ca from being a doubly magic nucleus as has been suggested recently. (orig.)
