The effect of the amount, composition and thickness of deposits on damage risk on steam generator tubes at NPPs with WWER

Creators

Description

Corrosion cracking under pressure in the presence of chlorine ions and oxygen is responsible for the damage risk of WWER steam generators. Effect of chlorine ions on material of tubes is aggravated by the availability of porous deposition at the tube surfaces more than 150 g/m2 because of concentration of chlorine ions in capillary-porous structures of depositions. It is recommended to limit of depositions no more than 100 g/m2. Iron and copper concentrations in water of condensate-feeding tract provide important index determining of reliability of steam generator tubes. There is a need to decrease or eliminate the delivery of corrosion-active elements from the water-feeding tract and to take timely care to remove of corrosion deposits at tubes for the reliable and safety operation of steam generators
