Tritium balance in water objects of the Ignalina NPP and environment
- 1. Institute of Physic, Vilnius (Lithuania)
Description
A structural scheme of tritium exchange in the system 'nuclear power plant - environment' consisting of 11 blocks is presented. On this basis, tritium balance equations in the circuit of multiple constrained circulation, in the water exchange system and in the cooling basin were worked out. This allows to specify flows of tritium into the environment. Analysis of the dynamics of the quantity of tritium in Lake Druksiai - the cooling basin has been made. It is shown that lately the concentrations of tritium in Lake Druksiai have changed very little. The highest concentrations of tritium were found in background moisture near the radioactive waste storage in Bartkuskis. Distribution of tritium activity concentrations in soil moisture and control wells in the Ignalina NPP industrial place were found analogous to their distribution near the radioactive waste storage in Bartkuskis. Diffusion of tritium from hard sources reflects the distribution of tritium in soil in both cases. (author)
