Determination of the radiological capacity in the IEA environment
Description
The radiological capacity in the IEA environment, was calculated according to the recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection, in order to assess the management wastes disposal programming. The value of radiological capacity, take into account the isotopic composition, at the production moment, was 850 Ci/year. The IEA radioactive environment disposal, up to now, employed just a small fraction of its capacity. Iodine I-131 air inhalation, and external radiation, derivated from the sediments around the discharged point of Pinheiros river, were the 'critical pathways'; for the second case the 'critical radionuclides' were: Te-125m, Te-123m, Te-127m, I-131 e Cs-137. The 'Dose Commitment' of one year operation will be not upper than 20 mrad in the infant's thyroid and 140 mrad in the whole body

A capacidade radiologica da zona de influencia do I.E.A., de acordo com as recomendacoes da 'International Commission on Radiological Protection' (ICRP), foi determinada para estudar-se o programa de gestao de residuos radioativos. O valor da capacidade radiologica, tendo em conta a composicao isotopica dos residuos no momento de sua producao foi de 850 Ci/ano. Demonstrou-se que os residuos radioativos do I.E.A. eliminados no ambiente ate o presente, representam apenas uma pequena fracao da capacidade do meio receptor. As 'vias criticas' sao: eliminacao de ar contaminado com I-131, e exposicao a radiacao externa proveniente dos sedimentos na proximidade do ponto de descarga, no rio Pinheiros. Para este ultimo caso, os radionuclideos criticos sao: Te-125m, Te-123m, Te-127m, I-131 e Cs-137. A 'Dose prevista' para o grupo critico, resultante apos um ano de operacao, nao ultrapassara 20 mrad na tireoide de criancas e 140 mrad no corpo inteiroFiles
