Description

Excitable chemical system can process information coded in excitation pulses. Here we discuss the simplest realization of a chemical signal diode that transmits pulses in one direction only. The construction of such diode just requires a geometrical combination of three areas characterized by different excitability. The proposed construction of chemical signal diode has been tested in numerical simulations and verified in experiments with ruthenium (Ru) catalyzed Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction. (author)
