New eye lens dosimeter based on lithium magnesium borate TL phosphor

  • 1. Health Physics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Facility, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)

Description

On the context of ICRP recommendation to reduce the annual dose limit to eye lens from 150 mSv to 20 mSv, eye lens dosimetry based on near tissue equivalent material, Lithium Magnesium Borate (Zeff ≈ 8) has been proposed. LMB: Tb powder mixed with teflon in the weight ratio of 1:3 is used to make 130 mg disc of size 10 mm dia and 1 mm thickness. Dosimetric properties are studied for these discs. A head band model eye lens dosimeter badge is designed with PTFE filters of 3 mm thickness on both the sides of detector. (author)
