Effects of a magnetic field strength on natural convection and pool boiling of liquid metals, (4)
- 1. Japan Atomic Energy Research Inst., Tokai, Ibaraki. Tokai Research Establishment
Description
Two ungrounded-type heater pins were inserted into a sodium tank both vertically and horizontally. The tank was set in a vertical magnetic field. In carrying out experiments on boiling incipience, power to the heater pins were increased either gradually or stepwise. The system pressure was held around 76 Torr. It is concluded that the magnetic field has little effects on boiling incipience for both vertical and horizontal pins. The data of the transient boiling also supported the above conclusion. (author)
