On thermal strength of scintillation detectors based upon hydroscopic alkali-halide crystals
Description
Peculiarities of NaI(Tl) crystal treatment providing for improving the thermal strength of scintillation detectors based on alkali-halide crystals were investigated. It is shown that such peculiarities are the following: detector assembling in vacuum or in rare gas or dry air atmosphere, decreasing the water content on crystal surface by heating and preliminary mechanical machining. The detector control tests have confirmed the results of studies
