Description

In this report we summarize the discussions on high power microwave sources in the RF (new/novel ideas) working group of the 6th Workshop on Advanced Accelerator Concepts held June 12 endash 18, 1994 at The Abbey on Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. In addition to covering the status of recent designs and experiments, we deliberated on the potential requirements for future accelerators and identified several general areas where more effort is required. The criteria developed to evaluate potential candidates for collider applications are listed in the introduction. The following section contains summaries on progress towards discrete sources suitable for conventional machines and the third section reports RF source work for two-beam configurations. We close with a synopsis of the general areas that require additional investigation. copyright 1995 American Institute of Physics
