Description

In view of the importance of reprocessing in the Indian context, the challenges that could be imposed for the management of high level liquid waste was well recognized. Accordingly, in the early seventies, R and D activities on management of high level waste was directed to develop and characterise a number of alternative glass matrices suitable for immobilisation of HLW generated as first cycle raffinate (Purex process) from the Indian reprocessing units on one hand and develop, evaluate and perfect conditioning processes and techniques on the other
