Description
Optical spectroscopic and photometric observations of the hard X-ray-emitting HEAO 1 cataclysmic variable, H0534 - 581 are discussed. From the analysis of Exosat time series data, spectroscopic periods at 6 and 2.1 hr are identified as the orbital and white dwarf spin periods, respectively. The results suggest that H0534 - 581 is a member of the intermediate polar (DQ Herculis) class of magnetic cataclysmic variables. 52 refs
