Lifetime measurements in 92Ru with EUROBALL CLUSTER detectors

Description
Isotones having neutron numbers N=46-49 and proton numbers Z=40-45 represent a recently discovered spherical region within the Periodic Table. Their high spin states can be well explained in the frame of the multi-particle shell model, within the simple (g9/2, p1/2) single-particle truncation, by aligning the angular momenta of the many g9/2 particles (holes). Either 100Sn or 88Sr are considered as cores. The present lifetime measurement in 92Ru (Z=44, N=48) was motivated by the observation of sequences of stretched M1 and E2 transitions among the high spin states. The shell model predicts large M1 strengths (as long as the seniorities of protons and neutrons do not change) and moderately enhanced E2 strengths. (orig.)
