Choice of gamma source in radiography of welded joints
Description
Dependence of the defect detection threshold on the gamma-radiation energy when gamma-graphic testing of steel welded products is studied. Diagrams to determine applicability range for various sources in testing are obtained. It is established that minimization of the detection threshold can be achieved using gamma sources in the following ranges of steel thickness: 192Ir - up to 40 mm, 137Cs - from 40 up to 53 mm, 60Co - above 53 mm
