Intensity of steam condensation in a subcooled water

Description

Simplified technique for calculating steam condensation intensity in a turbulent flow of subcooled water is described. The technique is based on the model of heat and mass transfer between a steam bubble and surrounding water. The technique was tested when processing results of experiments on steam condensation with mixing of two-phase flow and subcooled water in a tube 145 mm in diameter. The obtained data have supported the technique applicability in the following range of operating parameters: pressure p=2-4 MPa, the rate of steam bubble movement W=0.45-1.78 m/s, water subcooling Δt=0.1-2.0 K
