Tritium isotope separation by CO2-laser

  • 1. Hanyang Univ., Seoul (Republic of Korea)

Description

The fundamental frequencies of tritium-substituents were calculated to find a suitable working molecule for isotope separation by CO2 laser. Potential functions described with internal coordinates which were obtained by applying the Urey-Bradley force field, were transformed into potential function with symmetry coordinates by considering the symmetry mode of each molecule. Secular equations were represented with F and G matricies which were obtained by orthogonal-transforming f and g matricies with symmetry coordinates. The fundamental frequencies were calculated from secular equations by using VAX-11 computer and compared with CO2 laser range. CTClF2 and CTBrCl2 of CX2YZ type molecules, CHTF2, CHTCl2 and CHTBr2 of CX2Z2 type molecules, CTF3 of CY3Z type molecules, and 1,1,1-Trichloroethane and 1,1,2,2-Tetrachloroethane were found as an available working molecule for isotope separation by using CO2 laser.
