Description
Recent analysis of 30Si and 34S neutron scattering data in the low energy resonance region has resulted in optical potential parameters having different s- and p-wave well depths. We show that a proper inclusion of the collective excitations of the target nucleus reduces this difference to well within the limits of experimental error and confirms the ability of the neutron resonance reaction to act as a meaningful probe of the bulk properties of target nuclei
