The clearance of plutonium and americium from the lungs of rodents following the inhalation of oxide aerosols of these actinides either alone or in combination with sodium oxide

Description

Previous work was continued, studying the lung clearance of plutonium in hamsters at various times to 18 months after inhalation of aerosols of either Pu02 (+AmO2) or a mixed oxide of plutonium and sodium oxides with a Pu:Na atomic ratio of 1:27 or 1:104. Autoradiographic studies are reported. The distribution of Pu and Am as between lung and liver at various times is shown. The Pu content of thoracic lymph nodes at various times following inhalation is shown for (a) Pu02 aerosol, and (b) mixed oxide aerosol. (U.K.)
