Air-stable compact of cobalt-rare earth alloy particles and method

Description

A process is described for producing novel air-stable magnetic products. An organometallic compound which decomposes at a temperature below 5000C is mixed with particles of a transition metal-rare earth alloy. The resulting mixture is pressed to form a green body, which is then heated to decompose the organometallic compound to produce a metal vapor that deposits an interconnecting metal coating on the exposed surfaces of the pressed particles.
