Gamma sterilization of perfumed talcs

Description
Formula of talcs powders manufactured in cosmetic industry often includes starch and therefore they cannot be sterilized by ordinary dry heat processes. Gamma ray are most convenient, but one might expect a resulting adulteration of perfume, if present in the item. Contrarely, it was found that no modification seemed to occur, in the scent of the sterilized product. Increase of stability, after long storage, was even observed
Abstract (French)
La formule des poudres de talcs fabriquees dans l'industrie cosmetique renferme souvent de l'amidon et on ne peut donc pas les steriliser par la chaleur seche. Les rayons #betta# conviennent mieux, mais on pourrait craindre qu'ils ne provoquent une alteration du parfum, si le produit en renferme. Tout au contraire on a constate qu'aucune modification de l'odeur du produit ne semblait apparaitre apres sterilisation #betta#.
