Property studies of solid tritium breeding materials

  • 1. Argonne National Lab., IL

Description

The objective of this work is to evaluate the potential of lithium containing ceramic materials to serve as tritium breeding materials for D-T fusion reactors. This activity focuses on the collection and assessment of thermodynamic transport and thermophysical properties data on the candidate materials Li2O, LiAlO2, Li4SiO4, and Li8ZrO6. Studies include determining phase relationship, assessing transport behavior, measuring heats of adsorption/desorption, and determining chemical and thermal stability
