Radiation method for determining hydrogen concentration in substance samples
Description
A method for determining hydrogen concentration in substance samples, consisting in irradiation of a sample by neutrons through a shielding-moderating unit and neutron-absorbing screen and measurements of the neutron flux by a detector, is proposed. To improve the accuracy for samples having different chemical compositions in a wide hydrogen concentration range, the dependence of detector readings on the absorbing screen - neutron source distance at different lower energy thresholds of neutron detection is preliminarily taken, and moving the source inside the shielding - moderating unit, the source position, at which the detector reading difference for two different thresholds is maximum, and the measurements are carried out at the given source position and selected thresholds.
