Genetic analysis of induced variability for yield and yield attributes in Sesame (Sesamum Indicum L)

Description

Sesame is one of the world's oldest oil seed crops ancient to India. The variety DS-1 was treated with mutagens. Analysis of variance revealed highly significant differences among mutants. The yield/ha was significant in high yielding mutants and the mean values for most of the traits were higher as compared to the parent DS-1. The heritability, genetic advance, and genetic advance over mean were high to moderate for most of the quantitative traits. The frequency of superior M3 families was higher with EMS 0.50 per cent followed by gamma rays (300 Gy). Promising high yielding mutants identified will be tested over locations for yield performance. (author)
