Comparative study of L-alanine, L-threonine and taurine under high temperature: a Raman study

Description

In this comparative study, crystals of L-alanine, L-threonine, and taurine were subjected to Raman spectroscopy at high temperatures. The difference in behavior of the Raman bands was correlated with the strength of hydrogen bonds of the structures of amino acids. L-alanine showed greater impairment in their hydrogen bonds compared to L-threonine and taurine, when subjected to increasing temperature. This behavior was related to the fact that L-alanine has a degradation temperature lower than threonine and L-Taurine, despite their shorter hydrogen bonds. (author)
