Regional Cooperation for Nuclear Development in the Asia-Pacific Region

Description

Until late 1970, nuclear power was one of the most promising electricity sources. However, since the TMI and Chernobyl accidents, some western countries are struggling to overcome obstacles such as political and public acceptance for the nuclear option. Nevertheless, nuclear power is restoring its reputation and will continue to play a major role in world-wide power generation due to its substantial cost benefits and the negative aspects of fossil fuels such as the green house effect and harmful emissions. Now, we would like to introduce Korea's overall nuclear experience and status, including research reactor, and the status of nuclear cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. Then, we would like to suggest a future cooperation scheme for the Asia-Pacific region
