Description
The hyperfine structure of the 17362 cm-1 (J=6) level in 235U is resolved experimentally by laser excitation of a cool vapour in a hollow cathode lamp. The structure is analysed theoretically using an interactive fitting program. The magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole interactions between the nucleus and the atomic level are determined with a relative accuracy of approximately equal to 3%. (author)
