A simple test method for determining JIC of mild steel by means of single side-grooved precracked charpy-type specimen

Description
Based on Eftis and Liebowitz's empirical formula for a load-displacement curve, a method for determining JIC of mild steel from the maximum load point on P-Δ curve was proposed. The effect of subcritical crack growth was considered. The test results on two kinds of steel were compared with the results of the standard multiple specimen method. (author)
