Vibration tests on an alternative shutdown system proposed for CDFR

Description

A full scale model of the alternative shutdown system for the proposed commercial demonstration fast reactor was tested at International Research and Development Company Limited for the National Nuclear Corporation. The rig was excited with a shaped Fourier Spectrum at frequencies in the seismic range and the system was shown to behave in a non-linear manner. No degradation in system performance was seen for vibration amplitudes up to and including the maximum achievable by the rig. (author)
