Fast breeder reactors
Description
In France today the event attracting most attention in the fast breeder reactor program is the leak on the vessel of the fuel storage drum of the handling system at the Creys-Malville (Superphenix) plant. Details about the leak and the proposals for repair are given. The Creys-Malville plant's current problems should not obscure the progress achieved in cost savings on fast breeder reactors in recent years. The investment gains obtained for the Superphenix-2 project have already been published. In this case, the NSSS mass represents a saving of more than 40 % over that of Superphenix-1
