Description
This document brings together and summarizes all the work carried out on the low-energy lines of SPIRAL-2's low-energy lines, reconciling the following requirements: - take account of new physics requirements; - minimize the risk of not obtaining the desired beams; - minimize beam adjustment times; - keep within budget; - keep to the current schedule. There are, however, a number of aspects that require further study and decision-making: - the unavailability of human resources on the 'vacuum' side meant that it was not possible to definitively validate the number and arrangement of pumps along the low-voltage lines; - H2+ operation at full intensity (at least 5 mA) would lead to significant beam losses for the LBE2 line: we need to decide quickly whether this adjustment mode is essential; - we need to decide whether the q/A = 1/3 source should also be able to produce deuterons and protons
