Dynamic Ergodic Divertor (DED) for TEXTOR-94

Description

The proposed DED will be an integral part of the overall reseach program of the TEC aiming at coherent concepts for energy and particle transport and exhaust. The technical solution has been chosen to provide a wide range of experimental possibilities, the aim being the exploration of the potential and the limits of the DED as a means to influence and control plasma wall interaction. The benefit of the studies is seen in the improvement in understanding of edge transport, island formation, effects of ergodicity etc.The planning of the dynamic ergodic divertor will considerably enhance the capabilities of the TEC within its plasma- wall and exhaust orientedprogramme. The DED introduces a new element into the concept of the ED,namely a magnetic perturbation with a phase velocity relative to thesurrounding material structures as well as to the plasma
