Radiation polymerization of 2-hydroxy-3-butoxypropylacrylate and 2-hydroxy-3-tolylhydroxypropyl acrylate
- 1. A.A. Zhdanov Leningrad State Univ. (USSR)
Description
The kinetics of γ-initiated bulk homopolymerization of 2-hydroxy-3-butoxypropyl acrylate and 2-hydroxy-3-tolylhydroxypropyl acrylate were studied by calorimetry. It was shown that the monomers are polymerized with high rates which are commensurate in the starting phase of the process when the character of kinetic chain breaking is close to bimolecular. With deep degrees of conversion, when the character of breaking approaches monomolecular, the rate of polymerization of 2-hydroxy-3-butoxypropyl acrylate is higher and it is polymerized to high degrees of conversion
