Operational experience feedback as a base for periodic safety reviews

Description
In Germany, the periodic safety review (PSR) is performed on a voluntary basis utilities and can support the regulatory surveillance of the competent authority. Essential elements of this PSR are a deterministic analysis including an evaluation of the overall status of the respective plant and a probabilistic safety assessment (PSA). Within the deterministic assessment the fulfillment of relevant protective goals by the existing plant state should be demonstrated taking into account operational experiences. Moreover, organizational and technical measures necessary for the safe operation of the plant are to be analyzed. For the PSA it is intended to use plant-specific data as far as possible. This is one way of including the operational experiences in PSA. (Author). 3 figs., 1 tab
