Studies on fluid impurities due to accidents in the containment of PWR reactors

Description

In an experimental research program about hydrodynamics of residual heat removal pumps in pressurized water reactors additionally the influence of fluid impurities on the pump performance shall be analysed. ''Impurity'' means the assembly of solid materials and its concentration in the containment sump following a loss of coolant accident which could influence the operation of the pumps. For critical examination of the parameter ''impurity'' results of theoretical studies and experiments in large scale test facilities as well as evaluation of damage discriptions of accidents in nuclear power plants are compiled. Abstract (German)

Im Rahmen geplanter hydrodynamischer Untersuchungen an Nachkuehlpumpen von Druckwasserreaktoren sollen auch die Einfluesse von Verschmutzung im Fluid auf das Verhalten der Pumpe analysiert werden. Als Verschmutzung wird die nach einem Kuehlmittelverlust-Stoerfall auftretende und sich im Sumpf des Sicherheitsbehaelters ansammelnde Feststoffkonzentration bezeichnet, die das Betriebsverhalten von Nachkuehlpumpen beeinflussen kann. Zur Beschreibung und Bewertung des Parameters Verschmutzung werden die Ergebnisse theoretischer Betrachtungen, die Erfahrungen aus Experimenten in Grossversuchsstaenden sowie Auswertungen von Schadensbildern relevanter Stoerfaelle in Kernkraftwerken zusammengetragen.
