Interaction in powder Ti-NB composites

Description
Interaction in powder Ti-BN composites under conditions of thermal heating, hot pressing heating in high-temperature gas medium is studied using thermodynamic calculations and methods of differential thermal, metallographic, X-ray phase analyses and X-ray microspectrometry. On the basis of the performed studies the composite Ti-BN powders are chosen for gas-thermal spraying of coatings, their structure and phase composition are determined. It is shown that heterophase coatings resulted from the the component interaction in the gas medium consists of solid boron and nitrogen solution in titanium (soft matrix) and inclusions of titanium nitrides, borides and residual boron nitride
