Comparative radioprotective analysis of some s-derivates of α-mercaptopropionylglycine and their amidine analogues

  • 1. Meditsinska Akademiya, Sofia (Bulgaria). Nauchen Inst. po Rentgenologiya i Radiobiologiya

Description

In a search for effective radioprotective preparations, the authors subjected to toxicological and radiobiological investigation the newly synthesized thiosulpho - and thiophospho-propionylglycine and their amidine analogues. The study was performed in mice, strain C57Bl and H, irradiated with 9.0-9.5 Gy gamma quanta (137Cs). Survival until the 30-th day, average life expectancy and the protection quotient were scored. Presented in a comparative aspect, the results of the primary radiobiological test showed that S-derivatives of α-MPG had superior antiradiation qualities than their amidine analogues. A certain relationship also existed between the nature of the S-substituent and the antiradiation effect, in favour of the thiophosphate substituent, manifested both with the amide and with the amidine analogues.
