Determination of elastic constants of plasticized epoxy polymers under impact loading

Description
The influence of strain-rate effect on the mechanical properties of epoxy polymers containing different amounts of plasticizer, was studied. Dynamic experiments were conducted with a modified Hopkinson-bar apparatus in a series of specimens from brittle to ductile state. It was found that the dynamic elastic modulus decreases with increasing amount of plasticizer, viz. from more brittle to more ductile specimens. However, when dealing with dynamic Poissons's ratios, we can conclude that it increases as a percentage of plasticizer is increased. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Der Einfluss der Verzerrungsrate auf die mechanischen Eigenschaften von Kunststoffharzen, die verschiedene Mengen des Plastifizierers enthalten, wurde untersucht. Dynamische Experimente wurden mit Hilfe einer modifizierten Hopkinsonstab-Anordnung durchgefuehrt fuer eine Reihe von Proben, deren Verhalten von mehr sproed zu mehr zaeh uebergeht. Es wurde festgestellt, dass der dynamische Elastizitaetsmodul mit zunehmender Plastifiziermenge abnimmt, die dynamische Poissonszahl jedoch mit zunehmender Plastifizierermenge zunimmt.
