New method of measurement for regional brain circulation

  • 1. Research Inst. of Brain and Blood Vessels, Akita (Japan)

Description

The progress of a method of two-dimentional measurement of regional brain circulation with 133Xe was summarized. A method of three-dimentional measurement by emission computed tomography (ECT) which supplies a defect of the method of two-dimentional measurement could observe phenomena in the deep site of the brain and could determine brain blood circulation quantitatively. Moreover, the ECT determined the oxygen consumption in the regional brain and glucose metabolism and showed the results as images. (Kanao, N.)
