Description
A brief survey of the application of solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTDs) in neutron dosimetry is presented. The main attention is concentrated on their neutron energy dependence. Classical materials are discussed; their sensitivities and neutron dosimetric responses are analysed using chemical and electrochemical etching. Further possibilities of development in this area are also analysed, particularly in two directions. First, is the use of proton sensitive polymer SSNTDs. Results obtained with KODAK CN 85 and CR 39 plastics are presented. Secondly, a neutron spectrometer based on SSNTDs is proposed, with preliminary results presented. (author)
