The opening of through-wall cracks in BWR coolant lines due to the application of severe overloads
Description
The effect of severe overloads on the opening of through-wall cracks in BWR coolant lines is discussed. The pipe deflection required to produce a given crack-opening area is estimated. The results are coupled with results from appropriate leak-rate calculations and shown to be relevant to the integrity of PWR systems during accident conditions. (U.K.)
