CeSe2O6, Mr=349.03, synthesized by solid-state reaction, monoclinic, P21/n, a=7.008 (1), b=10.587 (2), c=7.262 (1) A, β=107.00 (1)0, V=515.27 (2) A3, Z=4, Dx=5.08 Mg m-3, λ(Mo Kanti α)=0.71069 A, μ=24.1 mm-1, F(000)=696, room temperature, final R=0.032 for 1242 significant reflections. The structure consists of zigzag strings of CeO8 distorted edge-sharing Archimedean antiprisms parallel to the a axis. The Ce-O distances range from 2.250 to 2.526 A. Infinite (CeO6)n8n- strings are linked together by selenium atoms having a threefold coordination. The lone pair E occupies the apex of a SeO3E tetrahedron. (orig.)
